Cagayan Episode 2

We got another solid episode that included new insights into all three tribes. Amazingly, the Brains managed to do something right this week. There may be hope for them if they don't manage to starve themselves out first. There's a battle brewing between Tony and Sarah, and it's shaping up to be a big one. As it stands, it looks like Tony has the upper hand. LJ appears to be fairing well, but he experienced some ups and downs this week too. He gained traction by finding that HII, and then promptly let his team down in the challenge.

Who has surprised you the most this season? What did you think of Lindsey's quitter talk? What's your prognosis for the Brains tribe? How much will losing Brice hurt the Beauties? Will Sarah actually throw a challenge? Who do you think she is targeting? Did Jeremiah make the best choice? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episode 2.
Aparri/Brawn:Cliff, Lindsey, Sarah, Tony, Trish and Woo
Luzon/Brains:J'Tia, Kass, Spencer and Tasha
Solana/Beauty:Alexis, Jefra, Jeremiah, LJ and Morgan

Cagayan Episode 1

Who saw that coming? Out of all the castaways, the nuclear engineer was certainly not our first pick for most likely to fail at all aspects of the game. Several of the new castaways including Morgan, Tony, Brice, Kass, and Spencer surprised us in a good way though. LJ and Sarah delivered as expected. Uncle Cliffy's celebrity does not seem to be working against him at this point. Garrett may have completely eliminated anyone in the Brains tribe's chances to get an HII, until after the merge. Yes, this episode was chock full of interesting surprises. Looks like we are off to a good start!

How did your assessments of the new castaways change once you saw them in action? Were there any big revelations or realizations that you had misjudged someone? How much will being called "weak" affect Trish and Morgan? How much will being the "leader" affect Sarah and LJ? Is there any hope for J'Tia? Do you think the Brains tribe can recover? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episodes 1 and 2.
Aparri/Brawn:Cliff, Lindsey, Sarah, Tony, Trish and Woo
Luzon/Brains:J'Tia, Kass, Spencer and Tasha
Solana/Beauty:Alexis, Brice, Jefra, Jeremiah, LJ and Morgan

Blood vs. Water Finale

Our apologies for the delay, but we're back now! We enjoyed the Finale and most of the Reunion show. The Finale included several solid challenges, and it was really nice to see a jury reward great gameplay. We think Tyson's win was all the more impressive given the level of competition he faced combined with the fact that he played masterfully all the way through. The biggest editing surprise was learning about the huge gap in Monica's social game. We were happy to see everyone back on stage for the Reunion show, and only Marissa missed out on getting to speak, which was a huge improvement over previous seasons. All in all, it was a solid end to a great season!

JSFL Update: Congratulations to Steve W., winner of this season's JSFL!

Blood vs. Water Episode 13

It was certainly worth a try. We love it when the castaways give it everything they have to try to stay in the game. Hayden and Ciera appeared to even have a viable plan given Monica's constant need for reassurance. Their approach carried significant risk. The accusations of disrespect were flying at Tribal Council. It got under Gervase's skin. He lost control, again, at Tribal Council. In the end, Monica made her choice and the returnees maintained control. There will be a real threat for LauraM at RI for the final challenge.

What would be the most surprising final three? What would be the most difficult final three to choose between? Who is the least deserving to win? Who is most likely to return from RI? Who is your choice to win it all?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 13.
Kasama: Ciera, Gervase, Monica, and Tyson.
Redemption Island:Hayden, LauraM, and Tina

Blood vs. Water Episode 12

What a doozy of an episode! We witnessed Survivor history as this was only the second time that we have seen the castaways end up drawing rocks. In addition, this marked the third week in a row that Ciera's choices have been a core theme of the episode. First it was the choice to vote off her mom, next it was the choice to dissolve the final five alliance, and now to abandon the final four alliance. Gervase put an end to Monica's winning streak at the Immunity challenges, but he might have also put an end to his chances to win over the jury. Hayden did a great job of getting in Gervase's head and with a little help from Probst prompted several significant, emotional outbursts that could poison the jury pool. Hayden managed to stay safe this week through an impressive display of manipulation of Ciera, Gervase and Tyson.

Why would Tyson be willing to pull rocks? Will Monica flip? Is it possible for Gervase to recover and still make a case for why he should win? Who do you think is the most likely to make it to final three now? Who is most likely to return from RI? Who is your choice for next to go?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 12.
Kasama: Ciera, Gervase, Hayden, Monica, and Tyson.
Redemption Island:Katie, LauraM, and Tina

Blood vs. Water Episode 10

We had a hard time believing that Ciera was the mastermind with her veteran player and mother taking direction from her, regardless of how proud Laura was. Ciera certainly had her brightest moment of the season though when she tricked Katie into acknowledging that she did not actually find the HII. Katie appears to have missed out on a great opportunity to drive a wedge in the controlling alliance when she did not share the fact that the HII appeared to have already been found. Monica was impressive in the challenge, but may have only furthered her case as a goat when she passed on the reward with a bit too much fake sincerity instead of actually endearing herself to her alliance as she intended.

Does it make sense for everyone in the alliance to hold strong and vote out Katie next? What is Katie's best option to stay in the game? What other options could Monica have considered for who to share the reward with? Do the original Tadhana four have a chance to take control of the alliance and flip the script on Tyson? Who now has the best chance to return from RI, and how will that end up affecting the game?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 10.
Kasama: Caleb, Ciera, Gervase, Hayden, Katie, Monica, and Tyson.
Redemption Island:LauraM, Tina, and Vytas

Blood vs. Water Episode 8

What a difference a day makes in Survivor. The fall of Aras is now almost complete. There is still a chance he could save himself, but the chances of him winning it all again have begun to dim. His brother Vytas appears likely to suffer a similar fate as king Tyson takes control and begins to devour the competition. LauraM was selected by her tribe to go take out Brad. It was awesome to watch her win her way back to be in the game, and might prove to be pivotal in unseating the controlling alliance.

Do you think Aras has a chance to return from RI? Are Vytas' chances much better? Who is the best goat to take to the final 3 now? Is Tyson a shoe-in for final 3? How long do you think LauraM will be able to hang on? Could she be the key to flipping the script on Tyson? Who is your pick for the next one to be voted out?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 8.
Kasama: Caleb, Ciera, Gervase, Hayden, Katie, LauraM, Monica, Tina, Tyson and Vytas
Redemption Island:Aras

Blood vs. Water Episode 6

John was able to exact his revenge this week. We bet Candice was quite happy with the result too. The shuffle resulted in Aras and Vytus exchanging places, but it appears like it might have extended to their fates in the game too. Tyson has launched an active campaign against Aras, and it should be interesting to see how this plays out. The merge must be soon, right?

How big of an impact do you think the tribal shuffle will have on the original alliances? Did the shuffle impact your picks for who would make it to final three? Who do you think benefited the most from randomizing the tribes? Who is your pick to return from RI? Will Tina's matchmaking goals cloud her judgement in the game? Will any of the blood alliances survive?

Here are the tribes after episode 6.
New Galang:Katie, LauraB, Monica, Tina and Vytas
New Tadhana:Aras, Caleb, Ciera, Gervase, Hayden and Tyson
Redemption Island:John, Kat and LauraM

Blood vs. Water Episode 5

The challenge gods appear to have gone out of their way to ensure that both tribes had an equal chance to win immunity this week. The fact that Tadhana had lost four in a row really was not a factor when the challenge consisted of a water slide and a ring toss game. The loss of Brad from Tadhana appeared to have a positive impact on the tribe, despite the fact that they are all bruised, bitten, scraped and poor Katie had parts of her toes falling off. The controlling alliance at Galang has done a masterful job of keeping their plans under wraps, and this week's vote out choice was a great loyalty test for Monica.

Who would you say are the biggest dark horses to win at this point? Can you envision any scenario where LauraB makes it to final three? Who do you think stands the best chance to return from RI now? Galang has a clear majority, but do you think it can withstand a tribal shuffle? Who is most likely to end up with family members still in the game at the merge?

Here are the tribes after episode 5.
Galang:Aras, Gervase, Kat, LauraB, Monica, Tina and Tyson
Tadhana:Caleb, Ciera, Hayden, Katie, and Vytas
Redemption Island:Brad, John, and LauraM

Blood vs. Water Episode 4

In yet another twist for this season, the drama we are treated to pre and post challenge at RI continues to overshadow the challenge itself. Candice has found a way to annoy and alienate both tribes, undermining her chances of a successful re-entry into the game. The dysfunctional crew at Tadhana continued their losing streak, and we were treated to some comic relief courtesy of the coconut bandits. The crown jewel of this episode was the emergence of Caleb. We were just commenting last week on how little we had heard from him. Day 10 at Tribal Council certainly changed all that. He sensed a threat, albeit incorrectly, and acted to flip the power structure of his tribe on its head. Who knows, it might be the best thing to happen to Tadhana so far.

Was there a better strategic choice John could have made with the idol clue? How do you think Brad's choices are reflecting on Monica and her standing with the controlling alliance in Galang? Who will emerge as the controlling alliance at Tadhana now that Brad has gone? Who would you most like to see return from RI? Do you think Galang will make a clean sweep of Tadhana? How would you rate Caleb's chances to make it to the end now?

Here are the tribes after episode 4.
Galang:Aras, Gervase, Kat, LauraB, LauraM, Monica, Tina and Tyson
Tadhana:Caleb, Ciera, Hayden, Katie, and Vytas
Redemption Island:Brad, Candice, and John
