What a treat! We got an extra episode this week with a lot of great action. Now that we know the castaways a little better, we saw the return of the classic reward challenge. Even with the extra time spent on the action of the extra challenges, we still got some great insights into the social aspects of the game too. One of this season's themes continues to be the lack of self awareness. Shirin, Max, Rodney, Lindsey, and Dan seem to find new ways to demonstrate this each week. Kelly, on the other hand, serves as a great contrast to this clueless crew. It was great to see her highlighted this week.

Did your perception of anyone change significantly after the shuffle? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Will the red tribe get decimated in the upcoming challenges? Who is Sierra better off aligning with? Is there a solid five in control of the red tribe now? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episodes 4 and 5.
Escameca/Blue:Dan, Joaquin, Joe, Mike, Rodney, Sierra, and Tyler
Nagarote/Red:Carolyn, Hali, Jenn, Kelly, Shirin, Will

It is a classic pattern. A castaway gets booted out of a tribe and that tribe's failure at the next challenge appears like it hinged on that choice. Imagine how the No Collar's would have faired if they had kept Vince instead of Nina. The other classic pattern we were treated to this episode is for the dominant tribe to start to self destruct, and the Blue Collars are working hard on that one too. How is it that all the guys are experts at annoying their tribemates? Mike keeps digging his hole, Dan finds new ways to insert his foot in his mouth, and Rodney appears ready to rage at his tribemates in every confrontation. Meanwhile, over at the White Collars, Shirin and Joaquin are making the next choice to be booted from that tribe super easy too. This episode took us through day 8 and it is clear that the elements are really starting to have an impact on this group.

Who would you have chosen: Nina or Will? What's the key to keeping harmony in the dominant tribe? Do you think the Blue Collars will throw a challenge just to get rid of Mike? Is a tribe swap imminent or would your rather see them preserve the tribes until the merge? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here are the tribes after episode 3.
Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra
Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Will
Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

Another episode, another awesome blindside! Yes, season 30 is off to a good start. Max and Shirin continued their tribute to past Survivors. Last week it was Tarzan, this week it was Hatch. Dan, Mike and Nina continued to demonstrate that being a fan does not equal a smart player. Will may have struggled in the challenge, but he certainly took control at Tribal Council and decided who would be voted off. The No Collar tribe will likely sleep easier with Vince gone, but do you think they made the best decision to maintain their numbers?

Do you think Mike and Nina will recover? What did you think of Max and Shirin's choice? Could you ever be that bold? Did your perception of anyone change significantly this week? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episode 2.
Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra
Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Nina, Will
Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

Survivor season 30, Worlds Apart, is off to a great start! We got to hear from all the castaways. Some are playing smart, a select few, not so much. Super fan Dan was completely oblivious to how he was being perceived by others, and committing a well known Survivor sin: don't start the game by arguing with and alienating your tribe. Vince came out the gate acting nothing like a life coach and managed to give off a creepy, stalker vibe with Jenn. Will promised his tribe sandwiches. Go figure. Carolyn, who many thought might be first out, demonstrated a great awareness of the game and a good judge of character. It was great to get a blindside right out of the gate. It was a nice twist to see a tribe choose to keep an older female so early in the game. This season is already delivering surprises.

How did your assessments of the new castaways change once you saw them in action? What did you think about the twist of having two people choose between Honesty and Deception? Who do you think is in control of each tribe? Who would you have kept: So or Carolyn? Who do you think will be next to go?

Here are the tribes after episodes 1.
Escameca/Blue Collar:Dan, Kelly, Lindsey, Mike, Rodney, Sierra
Nagarote/No Collar:Hali, Jenn, Joe, Nina, Vince, Will
Masaya/White Collar:Carolyn, Joaquin, Max, Shirin, Tyler

This season started off slow and it was hard for many of us to find someone to cheer for, but that all changed after the merge. We saw some great battles between actual strategists and one person in particular emerged as a real superstar in the game. We experienced some great blindsides, witnessed the return of the water challenges in Nicaragua, and were pleased with the finale and the felt like the most deserving person was crowned the sole survivor.

What did you think about the final challenges? Were you happy with the result? How did you think the opening statements went versus the answers the final three provided to the jury? What did you think of Reed's wicked stepmother speech? How would you score the jury? Where does this season rank for you against the other 28? Any thoughts or predictions on season 30, Worlds Apart?

Rashmi not only dodged a bullet, she managed to dominate the JSFL side challenge this season! She will be deciding what Nina's punishment will be for coming in dead last. We'll have the update on the overall JSFL winner for the Listener Feedback show on Saturday.

One of the classic Survivor sins is overconfidence. Jon's been guilty of this ever since he got rid of Jeremy back in episode 9. He even convinced Jaclyn to join his "strong, loyal 5" delusion against her better instincts. It will be interesting to see how she fares on her own now. We were really impressed with Missy's willingness to tough it out in spite of her injury, but we were most delighted to see Natalie's plan finally come together.

Is Natalie a hands down favorite to win it all? Will an all female alliance make it to the end? Is Keith a threat to win or a lovable goat? Who is your favorite to win it all now? What's your final 5 order?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 13.
Huyopa:Baylor, Jaclyn, Keith, Missy, Natalie

That felt about right. We would be happy with two hours of Survivor every week. You could look back on these two episodes and call the results predictable, but it played out in a way that was entertaining to watch and appeared to provide some legitimate alternative options. In any case, if we have to watch a dominant alliance take out their rivals, it is best have it over in a single sitting. We are still excited to see if Natalie can make good on her plan to get revenge for Jeremy.

What did voting out Alex do for Natalie? Will Natalie still be able to get her revenge on Jon? Has Keith become this season's goat? What do you think of Missy's social game? What will Baylor have to do to make a good case for herself if she makes it to the end? Will an all female alliance between Missy, Baylor and Natalie last to the end? Who is your favorite to win it all now? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here is the merged tribe after episodes 11 and 12.
Huyopa:Baylor, Jaclyn, Jon, Keith, Missy, Natalie

Be honest. How many of you remembered that clue that Natalie and Baylor got when Baylor lost to Reed and Natalie volunteered to go with Baylor to Exile Island back in episode 6? They never showed them searching for idols, so we would not be surprised if you had forgotten all about it like we did. What a surprise to see it pop back up again in this episode. We have had so many surprises since the merge and the excitement just kept building in this episode. With her newfound HII, is Natalie now the most powerful person in the game? Why did she choose to alert Jon to play his idol and save him from being voted out?

Is it time for Natalie to take her revenge on Jon? Do you think Reed, Keith and Alec stand a chance now? Will we see an all female alliance at the end? Who will be most surprised at where they stand in the pecking order challenge? Are Jon and Jaclyn still calling the shots? Where does all this leave Missy? Who is your favorite to win it all now? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here is the merged tribe after episode 10.
Huyopa:Alec, Baylor, Jaclyn, Jon, Keith, Missy, Natalie, Reed

Wow, our wish came true! This game just kicked it into high gear. This episode contained multiple surprises that culminated in a classic blindside. Let's hope for more of the same in the next episode. With the two most prominent strategists out of the way, Jon appears to be the top dog for now. How long do you think he can hang on to his new found role?

What's Natalie's best play from here? What would Missy have to do from here to win your support at final tribal? Who is your favorite to win it all now? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here is the merged tribe after episodes 9.
Huyopa:Alec, Baylor, Jaclyn, Jon, Keith, Missy, Natalie, Reed and Wes

Here's a great lesson for future castaways. If you have a former beauty pageant contestant in your tribe, make sure you pay plenty of attention to her lest she thinks you do not care enough and bails on your alliance just to spite you. Last episode Keith's fortunes were looking fairly bright, and the next he blunders his alliance's plan and turns everything upside down. With the power struggle between Jeremy and Josh resolved, it should be interesting to see what happens next.

Do you think Jon and Jaclyn will maintain allegiance to the new alliance? Where do you think they fall in that alliance? Did they make the best choice for their game? Who is your favorite to win it all now? Who do you think will be the next to go?

Here is the merged tribe after episodes 8.
